Erasmus+Partner with us for Erasmus+ activities

The Soziokratie Zentrum is a well-established Austrian non-profit organisation dedicated to strengthening participation, democracy and collaborative decision-making across sectors. Our work spans education and youth, community development, cooperative enterprises and organisational transformation.

We bring deep expertise in sociocracy as both a practical governance method and a framework for inclusive participation. This is combined with a proven track record in EU-funded cooperation projects, applied research, training and hands-on implementation support. Partners value us for our ability to translate democratic principles into workable structures, tools and learning formats.

What We Have Done – Selected Projects and Experience

  • Sociocracy in Schools (SOCIS) We co-led an Erasmus+ KA2 partnership exploring how sociocracy can be introduced in European schools to strengthen participation among students, teachers and school leadership. Together with international partners, we conducted research, facilitated workshops across Europe and developed practical guidelines and manuals for schools seeking more relational and democratic governance models.
  • Active Youth Promoters (AYP) In this Erasmus+ collaboration, we contributed to the design and piloting of innovative learning tools supporting youth participation. Our role included developing workshop curricula, digital guidance resources and training-of-trainers formats for youth workers, educators and young people themselves, all grounded in sociocratic practice and collective empowerment.
  • Sociocratic Neighbourhood Circles (SONEC) As a partner in this strategic KA2 project, we support the adaptation and dissemination of neighbourhood-based participatory models inspired by international best practices. The project develops manuals and facilitator trainings that enable communities and municipalities to strengthen residents’ collective agency and local democratic processes.
  • Genossenschaft und Soziokratie (GENSO) We co-developed an EU-funded project linking sociocracy with cooperative entrepreneurship. The project supports innovative, participatory and resilient forms of economic organisation and has produced freely available guides and practical frameworks for professional use in cooperatives and solidarity-based enterprises.
  • Sociocratic Consultation of Locals (SOCOOL) This project extends our work in participatory research and consultation formats, bringing sociocratic methods into structured community engagement and decision-making processes at the local level.

Our Qualifications and Strengths

EU Project Design and Implementation – We have extensive experience in designing, managing and implementing Erasmus+ projects (KA1 and KA2), including consortium work, content development, facilitation, quality assurance and dissemination.

Practice-Oriented Tools and Capacity Building – Our projects consistently combine research and conceptual work with practical outputs such as manuals, toolkits, workshops and training formats. This ensures that results are directly applicable in real organisational, educational and community contexts.

Cross-Sector Expertise – While we have a strong background in youth and education, our expertise also covers community development, organisational change, cooperative economy and participatory governance. This makes us a flexible and reliable partner for projects with diverse target groups and thematic scopes.

Strong Networks and Collaborative Experience – We work with a broad international network of schools, NGOs, municipalities and expert organisations. Our experience in cross-cultural and pan-European collaboration strengthens project quality, relevance and impact.
